Congressman Fuller Introduced a Constitutional Amendment to End Automatic Citizenship for Children Born in the United States to Illegal Immigrants

June 30, 2026

Washington, D.C. — The Supreme Court ruled today to uphold birthright citizenship and strike down President Trump's executive order on the issue. Congressman Fuller responded by pointing to House Joint Resolution 172, the constitutional amendment he introduced on May 4 to end automatic citizenship for children born in the United States to illegal immigrants.

"Citizenship in this country is the most valuable thing we have to give. It is not a prize for breaking our laws to get here. As a prosecutor, I saw the price that having an open border has forced on Northwest Georgia families, and I will keep fighting to protect American citizenship. The Supreme Court has refused to stop this invasion, so Congress must act. We owe it to our children and all future generations of Americans to NOT become Europe," said Congressman Fuller.

House Joint Resolution 172 would end automatic citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants. The resolution was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.
